Clients turn to ad agencies because they
believe the agency can tell their story better. And that's usually
true. However, there is always an exception that proves the rule.
In this case, the man who runs the country's largest bank, and
was CEO of Chemical when this campaign ran, said it better than
anyone else could:
"I am pleased we have a shared pride in the Chemical
advertising campaign. Our ads have generated editorial comment,
which you don't often see, letters from our customers, and a great
deal of favorable employee comment. In one case, we've even been
plagiarized by a bank in Arizona! As a believer that imitation
is the highest form of flattery, this last incident tells me we
must be doing right."
